The Abbotsford School District is proud to announce Starfish Packs as the 2024 �鶹ֱ�� Matters Award recipient, presented at the June 18th Public Board �鶹ֱ��. This award recognizes Starfish Packs for their exceptional contributions to our community and students.

William A. Fraser Middle School is proud to announce the release of the “Connections Matter” �鶹ֱ�� Video Project. The project was led by Mr. Leeman’s Grade 8 class and supported by the Falcon Equity League, which includes Grade 6, 7, and 8 students. The project reveal saw an impressive turnout, with many guests attending the school's reveal event on June 12, 2024.

The Abbotsford School District proudly celebrated its 2024 retirees with a memorable retirement dinner on June 5, 2024, at the Clarion Hotel. This special event celebrated the outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication of those retiring from education leadership, operations management, administration, teaching, and support staff roles.

An expansion to Abbotsford Middle school will bring 200 more student spaces to the growing district as part of the government􀍛s plan to expand schools quicker.

"Our government is working to meet the needs of growing communities by investing in schools and taking action to bring innovative solutions to build and open more classrooms faster," said Rachna Singh, Minister of Education and Child Care. We're bringing the services people need, like schools, to B.C.􀍛s growing communities in half the time."

The Abbotsford School District is excited to announce the expansion of its annual appreciation day to include all support staff, now designated as Support Staff Appreciation Day. This special day, first introduced last year as Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day, is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of Educational Assistants, Youth Care Workers, International Student Liaisons, Indigenous Support Workers, Custodians, Administrative Assistants, and all other support staff members that contribute to the success of our organization.

An Abbotsford school is among 26 across the province that have each received provincial funding for new accessible playgrounds.

John Maclure �鶹ֱ�� School was among those that will receive $195,000, the province announced on Tuesday (June 4).

A total of $5.07 million is being distributed for the new playgrounds at 26 school districts.

Last year’s contribution of $5 million supported 25 new school playgrounds. Of those, 20 are complete, while the remaining are close to ready, according to the province.

Keeping kids healthy and safe this summer – tips for parents

As summer approaches, excitement levels rise in anticipation for outdoor adventures, sports and family vacations. Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, but it’s also a time to prioritize health and well-being. Below are some tips to help your kids stay active, healthy and safe during the summer months.

B.C.’s K-12 students and staff will be protected from harassing protesters as the Province enacts access zones around schools. 

“Every kid and teacher in our province has the right to go to school without being disrupted by aggressive or hateful protests,” said Premier David Eby. “Our government is taking action to protect kids and ensure schools remain safe spaces by establishing no-go zones for protestors. I want people who think it’s OK to intimidate or harass kids while they’re trying to learn or play at school to know that what you’re doing is now illegal.”
