Presentations

ASIA Sumas Mountain: Jazz Ensemble

 A small cohort of students from The Abby Flats, the school’s big band and vocal jazz ensemble presented some holiday cheer to trustees for the last board meeting of 2022.

Education

Early Learning Strategic Plan Report for 2021-22

Carla Danielsson, Assistant Superintendent, provided a progress report to the Board highlighting achievements related to Strategic Goals 1.1, 1.4 and 1.2.

Middle Schools Strategic Plan Report for 2021-22

Nathan Ngieng, Assistant Superintendent, provided a progress report to the Board highlighting achievements related to Strategic Goals 1.4, 1.2 and 1.3.

District Planning Team: Update on Progress

Dr. Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools, provided information to the Board about the District Planning Team, which resumed its work on December 5, 2022.

2023 Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Matters Award - Nomination and Submission Process

Dr. Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools, provided information to the Board about the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Matters Award nomination and submission process.

Office of the Human Rights Commissioner: School Liaison Officer Program

Dr. Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools, provided information to the Board regarding the School Liaison Officer Program.

Operations

BCPSEA, BCTF Ratify Collective Agreement

Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided the Board of Education with an update regarding the Collective Agreement.

Budget Guiding Principles

Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided information to the Board of Education about the budget guiding principles in preparation for the 2023-24 Budget and Strategic Plan.

Trustee Indemnity 

Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided the Board of Education with information regarding Trustee Indemnity.

Parent Advisory Council: Abbotsford Traditional School

A recommendation was put forward that the Board of Education approve the creation of the Parent Advisory Council at Abbotsford Traditional School effective the 2022-2023 school year.

New Business

Naming of District Artificial Turf Fields (Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle / W.J. Mouat Secondary)

An update was provided to the Board by Naming Committee Chair Shirley Wilson.
